What Does High Times Freedom Fighter Mean?
The High Times Freedom Fighters were a group of activists who fought for the legalization of marijuana. The group was formed in 1987 by the then editor in chief of High Times, Steven Hager.

The High Times Freedom Fighters gained fast momentum in the short time they were around. Among their events, the Boston Freedom Rally has been the largest one with around 100,000 people gathered at Boston Common in the 1990s for the rally. Linda Noel, founder of the Boston Freedom Rally, edited several national newsletters of the Freedom Fighters.
At their peak, High Times produced a documentary film, Let Freedom Ring, in 1990 focusing on the profiles of the Freedom Fighters and their roles at High Times. The organization became defunct in 1993 after their mailing list was given to the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML).
Despite the disbanding of the High Times group, some Freedom Fighter members went on to form other groups like The Cannabis Action Network and The Green Panthers. Despite discontinuing the Freedom Fighters, High Times still went on to name an annual Freedom Fighter in every monthly issue of the magazine.
Some individuals who were named Freedom Fighter of the Year from 1990 to 2012 include Thom Harris, Rodger Belknap, Elvy Musikka, Gatewood Galbraith, Jack Herer, Gideon Israel, Keith Stroup, Vivian McPeak, Shawn Heller, Valerie and Mike Corral, Eddy Lepp, Alex Whiteplume, Richard Lee, Tommy Chong, Rick Simpson, Dale Gieringer, Debbie Goldsberry, and Mason Tvert.
Although the original High Times Freedom Fighters group was short-lived, there are modern-day Freedom Fighters hosting various events that take place across the US.
