What Does Cannabis Essential Oil Mean?

Cannabis essential oils are oils used in the creation of lotions, soaps, candles, cosmetics, and also edible products. They are derived from the flowers and upper leaves of the cannabis plant by the process of steam distillation. With more than 400 chemical components and more than one subspecies, there are an infinite number of possible combinations of essential oils to concoct using cannabis plants.

Essential oils derived from cannabis plants are used like many other essential oils, both topically and internally for the treatment of several different afflictions. They are often diluted in carrier oils like hemp and coconut oils. Unlike traditional essential oils that are based on aromatherapy, cannabis essential oils are applied or consumed.

Maximum Yield Explains Cannabis Essential Oil

Though no formulation of cannabis essential oils have been approved for use by the FDA, they are used widely for those seeking to self-medicate. They are thought to be effective to prevent, reduce suffering, or outright cure many maladies. Some have been proven to be effective in lab trials, others are still awaiting further research.

Cannabis essential oils are claimed to promote appetite and better sleep. Cannabis has been proven to relieve both anxiety and pain, and many essential oils purport to do this as well. The active components in many essential oils made from cannabis plants are myrcene and beta-caryophyllene, both known to have anti-inflammatory properties.

Other claims of cannabis essential oil usage range from improving heart health, to curing cancer, though there is much research still needed to substantiate such claims.

Note that cannabis essential oil is different than CBD oil, which is also made from cannabis. CBD oil, which is extracted from hemp plants, contains cannabidiol, which is non-psychoactive. Therefore, CBD oil is more easily accessible (purchased) through retailers, both online and in person.
