Carb Cap

Last updated: November 18, 2021

What Does Carb Cap Mean?

A carb cap is used with a cannabis dab rig. It consists of a rounded end that is attached to a handle. The rounded end is referred to as the ‘cap’ and the handle is also used as a dabbing tool.

A carb cap helps create a restricted airflow so the cannabis concentrate vaporizes more efficiently. It is extremely popular for low-temperature dabbing.

With low-temperature dabbing, the user wants to preserve the terpenes and flavors of the concentrate so they can be completely appreciated and enjoyed. Low temp dabbing also provides a smoother hit, which is beneficial for medical marijuana users who want to avoid coughing or suffering from a scratchy throat.

Maximum Yield Explains Carb Cap

A carb cap must be used on an open-air dab rig. With an open air system, the cannabis concentrate is heated only on the dish of the nail and vaporizes in that location.

Common open-air oil rigs have domeless nails, curves, and bangers. The carb cap is placed over the dish on the nail to create a chamber after the concentrate has been heated. Within the chamber, the vapors are captured so they can be readily inhaled through the dab rig system.

Carb caps typically have a single hole to maximize suction, cool down the vapor, and also reduce the temperature of the air surrounding the concentrate.

Carb caps are normally made from quartz, titanium, ceramic, or glass.
