Auto Dimming

What Does Auto Dimming Mean?

When used correctly, grow lights can strengthen seedings, encouraging them to thrive and develop at an adequate pace. Contrary to popular belief, however, indoor plants do not require 24 hours of light every day. According to gardeners, a rest period is equally important for plant growth. Consequently, several planters choose to go for grow lights with auto dimming systems to protect their plants from a constant light exposure.

Vegetables, for example, only require around 14 to 18 hours of artificial light or sunlight, followed by a rest period of approximately 5 to 6 hours. Auto-dimming systems do not only protect plants from over-exposure, but they also prolong their lifespans. Additionally, they can be used to prevent various types of safety hazards. In several cases, auto-dimmers are also used to save both time and energy, preventing the gardener from having to manually adjust light intensity several times per day.

Dimmable ballasts are also used to control the grow lamp’s spectral quality, which can affect the plant’s overall growth and development.
