Drug Free America Foundation – The Drug Free America Foundation is a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization focusing on drug prevention through policy reform. Its objective is to develop national and international laws and policies that reduce illegal drug use and addiction. The Drug Free America Foundation was formed by Mel and Betty Sembler on April 22nd, 1976 in Saint Petersburg, Florida.
It was formerly known as Straight, Incorporated which was a controversial drug rehabilitation program. Drug Free America Foundation does not currently operate any drug rehabilitation programs. It is responsible for hosting many regional, national and international conferences and drug awareness campaigns. The messages and programs of the organization are guided by a voluntary advisory board with researchers, physicians, attorneys, businessmen and other community leaders. It is connected with the United Nations and has Special Consultative Status.
