What Does Organic Pesticide Mean?

Organic pesticides are pesticides made from naturally occurring bactericide, fungicide and insecticide. They can also be created from household item mixtures.

Although organic pesticides are made with natural ingredients, they are not chemical free. The chemicals in organic pesticides are extracted from minerals and plants. If used without careful consideration, they can be as damaging as non-organic pesticides. This applies to both organic farming and organic gardening.

There are four types of organic pesticide:

  • Biochemical Pesticides: Can disrupt mating behavior.
  • Microbial Pesticides: Can limit production.
  • botanical pesticides Can get rid of larvae and grubs.
  • Mineral Pesticides: Can control insects.

Household ingredients ranging from garlic to baking soda can also be used as organic pesticides. The key to determining the pesticide you should be using depends on the plant. This ensures effective use of organic pesticides for pest control to obtain the desired plant yield.
