In order for an organism to live, it must be able to convert food sources into usable energy. A chemical process takes place that helps them convert or metabolize this into this usable energy.
There’s a variety of different methods in which organisms conduct metabolism, but the chemical process remains the same. In horticulture, a plant draws nutrients from the soil through its roots and the process of metabolism takes place, converting those nutrients into energy that is then distributed throughout the plant.
Plants metabolize nutrients in two stages, the first is the breaking down of sugars, which is the glycolysis stage. The second stage is through the process of photosynthesis.
